Engine Running Hot

I have a 2000 Chrysler Town & Country. It runs hot when the air conditioner is on. What would cause this?

Thanks

well, your ac produces heat too, make sure that your cooling system is functioning properly, are your fans kicking on?

The fans are fine. An the coolant level is sufficient.

Thermostat

Without looking at it, I would say check the thermostat. There may be enough bypass to keep it cool without the AC (if it is stuck shut), but the added load of the AC may put it over the edge.

Do you have a temp gauge in the car? Is it about in the middle (there may even be a marked band on the gauge) and steady when operating at normal temp and no AC? Or is it high in the band or moving around when operating?
