Does it do anything at all when you turn the key? If not, the neutral safety switch would be a good place to start looking.

The ignition switches on these do come out of adjustment. Look on the steering column towards the floor, you will see a metal rod going into the switch. Cycling the ignition, you will see how the switch works. There is about 1/4 inch of adjustment by loosening the 2 bolts that secure the switch to the column.

Do you have enough knowledge about not just cars, but in ability to trace down where you have lost your 12 volts in your ignition circuit? Like, at least do you have say a fender mounted starter relay where you could determine if the 12 volt juice is getting to that point?

If not, are you adept at making volt checks with a voltmeter so that you can determine if that park/neutral safety switch (down by the floor?) is letting juice into and out of it when it gets engaged? And how to do a simple continuity check of the switch?
