Towing coverage alert

Note to those who have towing coverage on their auto insurance:

This was news to me. I was informed by a customer today that some insurers will not cover a tow if the car is located at the policyholder's residence, i.e. dead in the driveway. The customer's insurer is one of the top three in the country. My partner confirms that he got wind of the same thing recently from another source. Might be a good idea to check with your agent before you need to use your towing coverage to be certain what your insurance will cover and any limitations and exclusions. Might be a costly mistake to nurse an ailing car home rather than having it towed from the roadside.

Somebody always has some angle. And I bet that it is in fine print that grandmas can't even read with their bifocals on. (Not that they'd read it anyway...of course.)

Just push it off your driveway and into the street when the tow guy arrived, make sure on the tow guy invoice say "on the road to X repair center". and not "from your house" .

I wasn't going to suggest it, but it was pretty obvious.
