White smoke on start up

I have a '92 gmc jimmy with a 4.3L V6 and about 173,000 miles. It runs great but when you start it up you get a puff of white smoke out of tail pipe. It only does it when the engine is cold, if its still warm when you start it you wont get this puff of white smoke. I was wondering what is causing this? Thanks alot

Could be condensation laying in your exhaust system. Turning to stam real quick. I am not the expert here so watch this post for their input. Good luck.

Water vapor from condensation. My '99 Blazer used to do the
same thing when it was cold too. I had the 4.3l V6 and 96000
miles on it.

It's water vapor

But you might want to smell to make sure it's not coolant just in case
If it has no smell-no worries
A sweet smell could be coolant

Same here, get the same with my s-10... if you don't notice a drop in the coolant, that should be OK. Other then that, in certain light, oil smoke might look a white color... also not a problem, its likely just valve stem seals.
