no fuel pressure

my 02 avalanche needs to crank over to build up fuel pressure to start I tested the pressure and it dropped right away I then replaced the pump but that did not seem to help any suggestion what to check next?

I'd check the fuel pressure regulator, you can pull off the vacuum line and see if it's wet. It's supposed to be rated to 60-65 psi but if there's a leak in the diaphragm it won't maintain the pressure in the system.

Ditto what Christopher said.
It should eventually start though, even with a leaking regulator. (on that particular fuel control anyway)

That should have come with the new fuel pump, it's all one assembly.
