95 Dodge Caravan Transmission
My '95 Dodge Caravan will not move in Drive. The van still operates in Reverse, just not Drive. I put the van in the air and attached pressure gages to the transmission. I found that the wheels will move in Drive put it has no torque.
When I first start the engine the LR clutch has good pressure in Park, Reverse, and Neutral (like it should) but within a few seconds after shifting to Drive the pressure drops to zero (it shouldn't). I noticed that when I shift to Drive, I get pressure to the 2-4 clutch when the pressure drops off from the LR clutch.
Next, when I shift from Drive to Neutral, Reverse, or Park, I don't get any pressure to the LR clutch. I have to stop the engine and restart it to get pressure again to the LR clutch.
I'm confused. It looks like the solenoid assembly is acting up but I'm wondering if maybe the transmission control module could be the cause. Any help?

It should set some DTC in the Trans system but anyway, it could be both Controller and Solenoid Pack, I have seen more of solenoid pack problem than bad controller, you can try to disconnect the controller for minute or two then reconnected and try again.

3 speed or 4
Which trans is it??? The solenoid packs can get clogged up.Have you done regular fluid changes? Using proper Chrysler +3 fluid? Not I repeat not Dexron or additives. How many miles does the trans have? It maybe time for a Chrysler reman. unit.

I have a 4-speed transmission. It's my son's car and it didn't get all the maintenance it should have. When this problem happened I changed the transmission fluid and filter. The fluid was black and fortunately there was no debris in the pan. I replaced the filter and filled the transmission back up but that didn't solve anything. I also pulled the valve assembly and disassembled it. I didn't find any sticking valves or other damage.
I disconnected the battery to clear the computer's memory but that didn't fix anything either.
