'89 Isuzu Pickup will not start

The truck was running perfectly the day before it stopped running. I checked the fuel filter.

Do you hear the fuel pump hum when you turn the key on?

Do you get spark?

Do you have fuel pressure?

If you don't get that fuel pump hum that Scalar is suggesting, try thumping real hard on the bottom of the tank several times. Will sometimes get a balky pump to run (but get it replaced asap if that works).

You really need to say more than this. HOW did it stop? What were you doing at the time? How does it crank over? (Like the timing belt may have let loose, or the distributor broke, and on and on...for all we know). You say you checked the fuel filter but did you try to crank it with it out to see if fuel comes out? There is much more you could tell us, if you really need some help and everyone here doesn't just pou at strings.

Things to check are full voltage, fuel supply, electrical at least getting as far as to a coil...perhaps compression.

Does it even crank over?, or did it just up and die?

1. The engine cranks but does not start.
2. I tried cleaning the carburetor with cleaner.
3. Someone helps by starting the ignition and when I spray the cleaner in the carburetor the engine starts but dies after.
4. I checked the fuel filter but, there seems to be fuel going through.
5. Where is the fuel pump located?
6. In the Haynes Isuzu repairbook it says that it is in the engine compartment but, I cannot find it.
7. I tried thumping on the gas tank but nothing.
8. I do not hear any humming noise from the fuel pump.
9. The belts in the engine are good.
10. The battery is fully charged
11. Any other suggestions?

Thank you

You probably have a mechanical fuel pump look for the fuel lines making a stop to a little thing hanging off the block, thats your fuel pump. With a carb you may want to get a cheap fuel pressure gauge to attach the gas line after disconnecting it from the carb and check for pressure when cranking.
