bonneville window regulator problem

I have a 2002 bonneville SSEI, with a rear window wire operated regulator that is not functioning properly. There is a spring loaded white plastic cylinder that doesn't seem to be properly attached to the system. The wire is not tensioned properly, and is kinking where it enters the motor/regulator. How should the white plastic cylinder be fastened to the system to maintain tension?

I've never been able to successfully reconstruct a wire-type regulator...and once the wire is kinked you are probably beating a dead horse. My suggestion would be to replace the entire regulator. Buying a used motor/regulator assembly from a junkyard will probably be a lot cheaper than buying one from a dealership. Double check the prices though just to be sure.
