AC not cooling at idle

I have a 2000 Saturn SL, 4 cyl. The AC cooling is contingent on the movement of the car. When the car moves, the AC cools. When the car stops, the AC does not cool. Any suggestions?

check relay and fuse for A/C fan
You will also want to see if the fan is getting power with a DMM if it is not working.

Does the electric fan come on when you turn the ac on.
Have hood popped and check.

I am going to say it is not coming on if it is this bad.

And I am going to rule out blocked up condensor coils with leaves etc because your not over heating.

check the cooling fan to see if it is working if the fan works suggest you have the a/c checked out it could be a little low on freon also causing the problem, it is normal for the a/c to perform better going down the road but it should keep the car cool even at idle.

There is a difference between engine fan and A/C fan how many fans do you have.

Because if system is full and fans are working, then I would be looking at blend door especially if vacuum operated and orifice tubes we need some and low side pressure readings

still say fan, if engine is hot fan will come on to cool engine you may be confusing that with the fan coming on for A/C.

So how many fans do you have

Your symptons are classic and perfect
