tahoe linkage lubrication

tahoe linkage lubrication
I have a 2001 tahoe, 2 wheel drive; when it was still in warranty I had a problem that when I would turn a corner and maybe hit a small upset in the road, the steering wheel felt as though there was some linkage loose underneath at the steering or wheel linkage. The dealer said that there was a linkage that may be splined that needed lubricating. Does anyone know about this and is this something that I can lubricate it myself, for it is doing this again...Thanks...Ronnie.

I would think the most likely suspect would be a worn tierod end. Unfortunately very few cars nowadays actually have grease fittings on any of the linkages. I would get it in to a decent (independent) garage and have the front end thoroughly inspected.

intermediate linkage
There is something that can be done for the loose feeling in Tahoe's and other GM vehicles that have this problem. I found out that GM offers instructions and a new lubrication that be used on this splined shaft. Anyone that has mechanical knowledge and can work with tools can do this job; cost of lub is about $15 at dealer..............The problem is with the intermediate linkage from the steering column to the steering gear box underneath the hood; when it gets dry inside the splined area of which you cannot see until it is taken out, it will cause the vehicle to feel as if something is loose when you make turn on a slightly bumby road.......good luck and this is what the dealer is doing to solve this problem....
