94 pontiac G.A. (High idle)

When you start the car, it idles at 1500 to 2000 R.P.M. it's a
GT, so it has a tack and says the RPM speed, i took off the EGR
valve and sprayed carb. cleaner down there, any body have any
ideas.

check to make sure throttle plate is completely closing, anyone mess with the base idle screw.

Possibly upper plenum gasket leak

spray some carb cleaner around see if that messes with idle

A few members said it could be a vacuum leak. Is this something that has to be tested to locate, or can a D.I.Y. guy find the leak,
it still ides at 1200 rpm when warm.

You can definitely DIY a vacuum leak yourself with a can of starting fluid and a good ear. Spray the fluid sparingly around the engine bay at and around vacuum lines and the intake manifold gasket. If the engine idles up, you know you are getting warm.
