sentra air intake

I recently took off a cracked plastic 2-way pipe that was protruding from the air filter box. Would I have to replace the pipe or could I leave it off? thanks in advance

I assume you are not talking about the tube that goes to the intake. I believe you are referring to the plastic part where the air come into the air box. Yes, you should replace this. That tube is designed to direct the flow of fresh cool air into the air box. Removing it means you will be pulling hot air in from the engine bay. Overall, it won't kill you but it will definitely reduce engine efficiency and reduce gas mileage.
