2001 Grand Caravan A/C issue

Hello,
the A/C appears to work great for the passenger side of the van, but the driver side vents never blow cold air.

I'm guessing it has something to do with dual temperature control sliders on the dash- they appear to work- but possibly the driver side isnt allowing 100% of the cold air through- even when the slider is all the way on cold.

Any ideas on how to trouble shoot this and fix?

thanks so much!

Dan

a/c not balanced

danedree,

the system used to control the balance between passenger and driver sides ( as well of the controls for defrost, upper, lower etc.)
work off a vacuum system. if there is a loose ,cracked, or any other hinderance for that line supplying the needed job that you want,ie a balanced air flow for driver to passenger will cause that system to fail. other than looking under the hood and seeing if any small, black vacuum tubing(s) have slipped off, the controls could have went south, which, since i wouldn't mess with the chance of messing up my airbag stuff , i would let a pro do it as much as i hate to say it. please let us know how this has worked out for
you.

Question

Makes sense- let me ask- any simple way to check for leak in this vaccum line?- meaning: in addition to a visual check under the hood can i disconnect a line and blow into it and hear a leak??? thx!

Your mini van A/C control system does not use vacuum to operates doors, it uses eletronic actuators and it's control by A/C controller, it's could be as easy fix as recalibrates all mode doors and temp control or it could be as expensive as replacing A/C controller, I'd take it to place like Dodge/Chry Dealer and have them check for any TDC in system though.
