Question car sitting for 10 months help starting it

I have a 1997 Ford Exporer, 6 cyl, all wheel drive, 4 door, in California, that I haven't started for a good 10 months. The battery is dead of course and I have AAA to come out and jump start it but am wondering what else I should do either before I attempt to start it or after to avoid any problems. Hope I covered everything.
Thanks for any advice.
Mary

Welcome to the forums Mary

It is usually a good idea to remove the spark plugs a squirt a little oil into each cylinder when motor has sat for an extended time. Probably the main thing would be to add some fresh gas along with a bottle of dry gas.

Before calling AAA you might want to put the battery on a charger. it can be removed if neccesary to bring it to a charger.
