intermittent wipers

i have a 97 gmc suburban and when i try to use the intermittent cycle or the mist, i get anything but what i want. the mist might go a halve dozen times or 2 dozen times and usually ends up in the middle of the winshield. same with the intermitten, they will work fine for a bit, than go constantly and won't even turn off. i'm sure i'll probably have to take it to a garage, but would like to have an idea what i'm walking into. any input would be appreciated. thanks in advance

Malfunctioning wipers on GM vehicles of that era are very common. So much so that you can buy a replacement pulse control module at AutoZone in the HELP! section. (The HELP! section is a display of commonly replaced items, and the brand name is HELP!) I just bought one there for my '93 Silverado and I believe it was around $30. It was a very simple fix that a do-it-yourselfer can do. I simply read the directions on the package, and it took about 5 minutes. Good luck.

If you know how to solder you can fix it for free.
