99 Mercury Sable "service engine soon?"
My wife bought this Sable a few months ago and a yellow light came on the dash that reads: "Service Engine Soon"
I'm assuming it's the oil service light (not the check engine light, right)
If that's it, how do you reset it after changing the oil?
BTW, there was no owners manual with the car; otherwise I would have just read it to get the info about that light. Gonna' see if I can get one from a salvage yard.
Thanks,
Phil

my 2 cents
I have a 2000 ford same deal same engine. The service engine light is telling you that there is a emmision problem and has nothing to do with a oil change.
Get in the car turn the key but dont start and take a look at all the lights you will see a oil light that is not the service engine light.
Go to auto zone and have the codes pulled could be anything from a loose gas cap to something else.

I agree, autozone will both read and turn off the light for free. It maybe something as simple as the gas cap not screwed on properly. Also could be an emisions problem or fuel flow problem.
You can also buy a repair manual at autozone specific to your car [and similiar cars
] I think they cost about $15
