Radiator Fan

Hi,
I have a Ford Taurus from November 1992.Few days ago my radiator fan was burning. I replaced it, but fan is working only when I use A/C or I disconnect the coolant temperature sensor (working all the time but check engine is on).Checked fuse number 9 is ok, replaced CMR (control module relay) no result. Any Ideas, please?

On most modern engines the fan only runs when the engine is hot enough to call for the extra cooling. The fan does run with the air on because of the extra load on the engine and to pull more air through the A/C core. Is your engine overheating? If not, it may be just fine. You could run the car to normal operating temp, and then block the radiator with cardboard. With the engine still running, watch for overheat on the temp gauge and see if the fan comes on with a temp rise. If it does, everything is fine. If not, you will need to track the bad component.
