Chevy truck trans
I have a 93 Chevy Z-71 1500, 4 speed automatic, that jerks hard when placed in drive. It also shifts very hard from first to second gear. It shifts smoothly in the higher gears. It also seems to get better the warmer it gets. I did a trans flush, but that didnt seem to help. Am I experiencing severe problems, or is this easily fixed? Thanks

Does your engine idle higher then usual? Most of the time the engine will make your transmission seem like it's going out. There is this thing called a PCM (Powertrain Control Module) which sends the transmission commands of when to shift, and the hydraulic power, etc. I would recommend getting that diagnosed, either by a OBDII scanner at Autozone for free, or local repair shop.

I had a problem with a 93 Suburban a while back where the the trans slammed into gear. It was that I installed a wrong Throttle Position Sensor.
Maybe if yours is going it could cause erratic operation.
Just an idea. Could be other things other that a bad transmission.
Vehicle is old enough you might be able to find an old one to substitute for a test of a neighbours old vehicle.
Make sure it is the same color (that was my mistake)
