cabin air filters

Is there any reason why i can't just remove the cabin air filter in my 98' taurus? Its a pain to get to,and costs $35 twice a year.
Thanks

You can do this yourself. It's usually behind the glove box. Remove the glove box and you should see the filter on that black encloser. You just don't want to remove it completely, it will allow alot of dust and particles to get into your car and cause havok on your allergies. I never knew anyone to change these twice a year. I change mine out about one a year of not longer then that.

The right windshield cowl trim panel has to be removed to install the cabin air filter. Clean the old filter? Most people don't even know they have a CABIN FILTER.
