I came out of the store tonight, got back in by 96 jeep loredo and turned the key but nothing happened. No attempt at starting, no clicking. If I turn the key all the way, the radio does come on. Logic tells me something in the mechanics of the key box is malfunctioning. but then again I'm not mechanically logical. Help please!

It could be that your selonoid is the culprit. You might be needing a new starter motor assembly. See if you see a "check engine" light on your car, if not you're loosing ground on the computer, this could be shot.

Could also be something as simple as a neutral or clutch safety switch. Going to need some basic troubleshooting starting with the condition of the battery.

I resolved this problem once by simply twisting the battery connections at the battery. They were loose.

Other possible causes I can think of:
- Bad battery (especially if engine has been sluggish in starting lately)
- Bad starter solenoid (especially if you didn't hear a click, and battery is strong)
- Bad starter motor
- Bad ignition switch (especially if you get car to start by jiggling it)
- Bad wiring between battery and ignition switch, or battery and starter (normally the least likely)
- Blown fuse

Good luck!
