How to Decode Check Engine

A while back I scanned a post that explained how to decode a Check Engine manually without the aid of a decoder. I used the process once at least a year ago and it worked well. Unfortunately, I forgot to write down the steps.

I have a 1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager LE, 3.8L, 6 cylinder. I noticed that when I drive for more than four or five miles above 55 mph, I get a Check Engine.

There are no other symptoms - the car is running great.

I'm suspecting an EGR issue but I would like to confirm. Can anyone refresh my memory on the manual process? I know it involves turning the ignition on and off a number of times and then counting the check engine light flashes, but I don't remember the exact sequence.

Thanks in advance!

You have a OBDII output on your Altima. Bring it to Autozone and they will tell you the codes for free.
