Angry 1987 ranger driving me nuts

Hey guys this is my 1st time here I have a 1987 ford ranger 2.9l v6 what happens is that affter it warms up it starts to run ruff the tac and motor jumps all over the place. motor revs up and down just cant fig it out any ideas why this is going on.???????????????

Easiest thing to check first is all the vacuum hoses. If you have a bad vacuum hose, it will cause your RPM's to go up and down and drive like crap. After that, check your plug wires and spark plugs.

I did that and all looks good. any other ideas

Is this vehicle fuel injected? If so, you may have clogged fuel injectors. Also, check your fuel filter and pump. Make sure the pump is running.

To look for vacuum leaks I take a rag and cover the air intake a bit while it is running rough. If it is covered a bit and it makes it better then it is a sign of it running too lean, for what ever reason.
Just a bit on a diagnostic trick to get into the ball park
