Camry Noise

i have a 2001 camry 4 cyl that emits a grinding/growling noise when it is first started on a cold morning. the noise will go away once rpm's exceed apprx 2200 but will recur for the first couple of minutes whenever the rpm's decrease and before the engine is warm. recently installed a new alternator and drive belt so am confident this is not the problem. any ideas?

Is this a manual transmission?
If so, your clutch bearing could be out of alignment or worn.

It's can be a number of things as well. I suggest you pop nthe hood on these colder morning and try to pin point where the noise is coming from. It could be a bad alternator bearing, CV joint, etc. There's alot of possibilities.

Also, try switching to a lighter weight oil. Sometimes the heavier weight oil gets really thick and cold and takes a few minutes to warm up.

Does this noise appear even when you are driving? Check your starter to make sure it shuts off.
