Starter Problems
Ok i went to change my starter in my 90 astro and they give my the wrong one but it fit and when i went to start it started but grinded so i took it back and got the right one but now i get nothin, and i've tried 2 starters. i get voltage by the alt were the wires go down to the starter but one voltage on the starter, 12v on the batt wire none on the switch wire. but i do up by the starter, i've tryed replaceing the wires still nothing?
and i have this thick purple wire and this smaller gauge purple wire neither have voltage with key on or in start

Is there an external solenoid on this starter? If so, that could be the problem if not, then it might be your ignition switch. You should have 12vDC on the purple wire coming from your ignition switch when the key is in the START position. This will obviously take two people.

i used a wire to jump the starter to see if it works it does, i have 12v on the purple wire
