Chrysler seat belt retractor

Awhile back I asked for help on a Chrysler seat belt retractor that did not work. I received one smart answer. On a Chrysler Sebring convertible the retractor is in the seat backrest. I removed the seat back cover and took out the retractor mechanism. What I found was a electrical solenoid at the bottom of the retractor with a lot of long hair in it. I cleaned out the hair and reassembled. It still did not work. The wires that go to the solenoid travel along the seat frame, and where the seat back bends forward one of the wires that feed the solenoid was worn through. I did a soldering splice job and now I have a working seat belt retractor.

Thanks for the info on the fix. More people should follow your lead.
