Tires on Lexus RX330

I recently bought a 05 RX330 with 20k miles from a local dealer (not Lexus dealer). The salerep told me they got it from an auction (bank repossessed from a private lease). Most of the RX330 have Goodyear as the original tires. The one I bought has Michellin tires, and they look 1/2 way worn.

Is it possible that this RX330 has its odometer roll-backed? Carfax report is 100% clean (except for some Lien from previous owner) and under hood, everything looks new. The carpet, pedals, leather seats, and shift also look brand new.

Anyone familiar with RX330, do you know if Michellin could the OEM tires on some of these SUV?

Thanks!

It's possible that the prevous owner had a "thing" about Goodyear and had them swapped out at a Michelin dealer.
Haven't heard of anyone doing this in recent years, but I did hear of it happening years ago.

Odometer rollback is extremely common, nowadys more then ever. CarFax is normally pretty accurate in detecting this. There are a few things that you can do that may be signs of odometer fraud.

1. Check transmission fluid. At 20k miles, it still should be pretty clean and red.

2. Look around the cluster area (dashboard), look for tool marks. Usually if it has been tampered with, you will see scratches from the tools used.

Most likely your car is legite if CarFax didn't notice anything. Most dealers etc will steam clean your engine to look pretty, then they spray ArmorAll on it.

Most likely the previous owner or the dealer took the stock tires off to resell or put on another vehicle and slapped some tires they had laying around on.

You should be fine.
