89' Crx Hf

Wife's 89' CRX HF (manual transmission) suddenly revs up when shifting. Car has around 240,000 miles on it; original clutch; replaced master cyclinder and that is it, other than routine oil and antifreeze changes, tire rotation/balance, tune-up (plugs, etc.), change air filter..

The car also shows 'hot' on the gauge when it really isn't. Gauge will stick at 'hot' and then if I pluck the plastic over the gauges or have been driving for a while, it will go back to normal. Car is not smoking. Anti-freeze and thermostat recently changed.

Any ideas on either??

Thanks in advance.....

My first thought would throttle/throttle linkage sticking.

If you know for sure the engine isn't heating, I would look at the temp sensor for the gauge, the gauge itself or the ground from cab to frame.

Hope this helps,

Bob
