1992 celica throttle delay

When I step on the gas pedal, it takes a few seconds before the car accellerates. There is no backfire, sputtering or anything of the sort. It doesn't appear to be starving for fuel. Would the throttle cable cause this?

Probably not the cable. I would focus my attention on the Throttle Position Sensor. You could tell if it's the cable by oberserving the movement of it where it attaches to your throttle body.
