maintenance

Totaled my car so got a Toyota Corolla LE. I always considered the manufacturer's manuel to be the book to follow but it sounds more like the dealer's scedule which is ridiculous; 1- change oil and filter 5,000 mi. (could be like the transition from 12k to 100k with plugs or??). 2-Rotate tires 5,000 -sound like a regression -used to be 7500. 3- Have axle shaft nut retorqued 5,000 -I have front wheel drive only so I don't believe I have to bother with that or differential(gearbox).
Thanx for the advice

Is there a question here?

A lot of cars, like VW only need oil changes every 10,000 miles. You follow the manual, and you keep your warranty.

Manufactures usually have 2 schedules for maintinence, 1 for regular use [?] and the other for severe conditions. Most vehicles fall in the severe use category - short runs, stop and go. The longer maintenence intervals are for mostly long interstate use.

I always thought so; in this case the book gives some things to do under rough conditions but the oil is at 5k reardless of use. I'll keep it all simple and follow the book. Thank you

Just drive it and change you oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles and you'll be fine.
Forget that other stuff.
Internal combustion is internal combustion, Chevy, Ford, Mercedes Bens, VW or Ferrari.
