Question Charging 12v car batteries on cement floor ok?

Hope someone can give me some good definitive advise on this subject. Growing up I was always told by Dad & Grandpa that one should never leave a car battery sitting on a concrete floor as it will drain the charge from the battery. Likewise you shouldn't sit a car battery on a concrete floor Like in most garages to charge it up with a battery charger.

Recently I conveyed this info to a co-worker and he said I was either crazy or else had just been given bad info for all these yrs. So what say you experts in the automotive maint. field. Is it ok for a battery to sit on concrete or not?
Appreciate your comments.

This was discussed awhile back, I looked but couldn't find the thread

It appears that this is a myth based in fact. Apparently the 'old' batteries were constructed in a manner in which they could be discharged if set on concrete but the new batteries are uneffected.

I still set them on a block wood when placing a battery on concrete. Old habits are hard to break and you can't teach an old dog new tricks
