tip

I can not tell you step by step on how to replace the pump I would recommend you get a chiltons service manuel or go to the auto zone web site.
I would also replace the timing belt at the same time as they are done as a pair. When you replace pump replace belt or when belt is changed pump is replaced.

Here's the shortcuts to the timing belt & water pump procedure. This is pretty advance for a novice. You are going to need someone on hand to give you guidance if possible.

You're biting off a pretty big chunk on this one..........You're going to need a harmonic balancer pulley for Mitsubishi engines and you're going to have to R&R the timing belt ...........so be prepared to spend the day...........Once the belt is off, the half cover BEHIND the belt comes off and the pump is there..........This is an INTERFERENCE engine, so if you make a mistake on reassembly, it'll be an expensive one.......

Wrench is right

This is no job for the faint at heart be sure you have plenty of good tools and plenty of time as well as a good supply of band aids.
Like said if it is not done correct your engine will eat itself up once it starts.
