2004 blazer heater core repair

How difficult is it to remove the dash to get to the core? is it worth the $786.00 the shop wants to charge me to change it?

It is A LOT of labor. If you do it yourself, prepare for a back brace. The dash can be very time consuming to remove. Some vehicles you can get away with just removing the glove box, but I haven't seen many of those. If you do this yourself, be very observent of how everything is put together. DO NOT disconnect the yellow canon plugs wires behind the glove box area, these are for your airbag. Just move them out of the way as much as possible. Once the dash is removed, next comes the airbox. Just trace the heater core hoses through the firewall.

If you do this yourself, it will take you the whole day if not more.

This vehicle is out of warranty already? How do you know the core is bad? Is it leaking?
