Heat not working in Explorer
I have a 1998 Ford Explorer. The air from the heater never gets hot. What are the possible causes?

1. Bad Thermostat
2. Clogged/air locked radiator
3. Heater control valve
I would first replace your thermostat. Very cheap and fairly easy task. If that has no result, flush your coolant system.
You can check for clog by feeling the two heater hoses going into your heater core (firewall). If one of them is hot, and the other colder, then you have a clogged heater core. If both hoses are cold, then you have a clog/air lock in the radiator and/or hoses or the thermostat.

Hog fan has it nailed. I replace 4 a month. Call your local ford dealer and request a copy of the technical bulletin on lack of heat and blend door upgrades. They sell a new heater box and blend door motor to correct a problem theyve had since 92 or 93.
