water pump repair $$

I own a 04 Trailblazer 6cyl. Last night a awful noise was coming under the hood. What I found was the fan seemed loose, I could move it a liitle, back and forth. Would this mean my bearings are shot? If so how much will they soak me at the garage at $60.00 per hour? thanks

OOPS.............The first (and last) of that bodystyle Trailblazer I came across went like this...........The owner had a cooling issue, went to the dealer, got the rediculous price, and came to us.......My manager quoted the job based on NAPA stating they HAD the fan clutch in stock........My manager then quoted labor off the top of his head...............NOW........The part at that time was a dealer only unit.........It wires into the ECU.......... Labor to remove and replace is about 2 hrs........The fan is almost like tongue and grooved with the fan shroud.........Not enough room to extract it without removing the upper rad support and gently (forcefully) pulling the whole shebang forward........I believe the entire job SHOULD have been around $450-$500..............It ain't no fun

I have a 2004 blazer and changed it myself for just the cost of a [new] not rebuilt pump. Around $8o.oo. The shop rate plus parts ie; a rebuilt pump, would run you around $250.00 or so.

Had waterpump job, $412, tranny flush $110. Talked to service manager and he took 25% off the labor cost. Oh by the way he's a friend of mine. The wife is happy again to have he TB back.
