If you dont have alot of money, then you don't need a new alternator or capacitor because you have to get some pretty powerful amp and subs to need those things.

What is your budget? I can help you out if I can get a rough $$ figure.

Here's a good deck to start off with:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7652408&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat52600050007&id=1134701297693

$150

10" Sub

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7676017&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03081&id=1134702499211

$70

Sub box:

$70

I'm already at $290 for just the deck and sub and box. I haven't even looked at an amp yet.

My suggestion would be to just get a decent deck for now, and earn some cash to get the rest.

You will have to figure that if you get a amp and sub, you will then have to get all the cabling for it, which costs some money.

I didn't have your car make and model, so I couldn't figure out what type of car speakers you could use.

270

270 will not buy you much high end stuff these days. You can probbably get a nice head unit for 270 but not much else.
Try shopping E Bay maybe some used stuff out there.

I plan on, but it might be a few years, a 1995 or 96 Chevy Impala or 1995 Caprice (the Police car Version 9C1) and trick that out. The car i have Right now is a 1991 Chevy Corsica LT.

Thank you for the help

there is so many brands of cd players probably wouldnt spend much on a cd player, 10 years ago you had to spend alot to get a decent one but now even the cheaper ones are of decent quality.
you do not have to have the best of everything to have a good stereo system. might check out the website below they do have some good deals.

make it at least $ 1000

my advice would be get at least $ 1000 together, and buy something decent,
i mean you're talking stereo, subwoofer, monster cables or similar, amplifier, speakers, capacitor etc.
don't buy the cheap stuff, save some money and go for the real deal.
focus on school not on an audio system, trust me they're cool but not all that, for one you're always worried is gonna get stolen and it often does, just last year they took my amp, subwoofer and sony mp3 stereo, not to mention the broken window on my truck, ( $ 150 out of pocket ).

I concur

I concur with Lou dont worry too much about looking cool in school that is only a temp thing, If you study hard and get some good education you can buy the biggest system later on when you make the big bucks.
I dont want to sound like your dad but trust me it will pay off later when you have a over 100 thousand dollar a year job instead of the 26 thousand dollar a year job.
Just get a good car put in a nice radio one that will not be ripped off.
I had my car broken into for a stupid radar detector the cost of the window was more then the detector was worth.
The anti skip units are pretty standard now so you should be able to get one for not too much cash.

I know what you mean Micheal. Yeah thats worries me, the possibility of my system getting stollen. I don't mean to get off toppic but what do you think about strob lights? I like to draw attention. I know auto zone has some. But they are not sencranized.

my 2 cents on strobes

Strobes are a cop magnet as well as anything that gets you noticed by your friends.
