Power Antenna problem on 2002 Hyundai
Has any one had any experience replacing a power antenna on a 2002 Hyundai Sonata.
It will not retract all the way when radio is shut off. It remains up about 2 or 3 inches. It makes a clunking noise as it nears the bottom of its travel.

On some cars the guts of the power antenna can be replaced, on others the entire unit. Check with a Hyundai dealer's parts department to see if you can buy parts for it. The entire unit may be expensive, so a used one might be the way to go. At the hidden end of the antenna (inside the fender or wherever yours is mounted) is a housing with the motor mechanism. The way the antenna goes up and down is normally with a flexible plastic tail piece with teeth that is attached to the bottom end of the antenna mast itself that rolls in and out of the housing when the motor turns a gear. I would guess you are missing some teeth on the tail piece.
