1993 ford ranger 2wd 2.34L

1993 ford ranger 2wd 2.34L Manual Trasmission

It stared driving down the road I heard a pop under the truck. The it was noticibly difficult to shift gears. Now the truck jumps when i try to start it with clutch engaged in any gear. my question is what was the pop? Could the clutch be adjusted till i can get it repaired or do I need to replce the whole thing? what do you suggest. I do know the rear seal in the transmission has a small leak. but i don't think this has anything to do with it. I also would like to know if anyone know where i can find do it yourself info on replacing the ford ranger clutch?
help me if you can.

Thanks, mondo1

Leaking transmissions that dont get repaired usually end up in the situation you are in. To much fluid has drained out and the tranny overheated most likely. A rebuild would be the only option.

BUT, I would have the clutch looked at first.

That "pop" was probably your plantary gear shredding.

Thank's I checked the leak its ok I changed the Fluid. I believe it's the clutch itself. Does anyone know where to get do it yourself info on clutch replacement online? Preferrably free info...

Get yourself a Haynes or Chiltons manual. These jobs sometimes require special tools. You will probably need a transmission jack to support the tranny while it's lowered.
