Thumbs up Trouble code help

Hello all,

I pulled a code from my In-Laws 1996 ford explorer.

PO153 o2 circuit slow response bank 2 sensor 1...

It has 3 new o2 sensors in it, 2 before the cat and 1 after, I think there all the same part number, And i believe there is a different part number for before the cat and after...

What do you think? Anyone experience this with this vehicle?

Thanks a bunch,
Mike

O2 sensors go bad all the time. Replace it. Before the cat, drivers side.

Before you do that, inspect your EVAP lines. A leaking EVAP will throw this code.

Wink o2

you SAY YOU'VE REPLACED ALL THE O2 SENSORS. LOOK UP NEW INTHE DICTIONARY. NEW DOES NOT MEAN GOOOD. I'VE BEEN WORKIN' ON CARS FOR A WHILE NOW & I CAN'T TELL YA' HOW MANY TIMES I'VE HAD BAD PARTS STRIAGT OUT OF THE BRAND NEW BOX. FIRST THING I WOULD DO IS TAKE THAT O2 SENSOR BACK & TELL THEM IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND YOU WANT ANOTHER.. HOPEFULLY THAT ONE WILL BE GOOD. MAXCHEVY "BEEN WORKIN' ON EM' SINCE 1972"

MaxChevy-
Using all CAPS lock means you are yelling. If you read my previous post, you will see that EVAP system leaking will throw a O2 code. You came off kind of harsh in your post and most likely your post will be ignored.

Really,

Evap problem would throw an 02 code....

Why would'nt it show as a Evap emmision leak?

What one would be bank 2 sensor one? The one on driver side or pasanger side before cat?
I have seen a bank 1 sensor 1 in definitions....

Maxchevy, I have seen plenty of bad new parts also, Good piont....

Thanks a bunch guys,

Mike

It's a possibilty, yes

It could show up as an "O2" code, but usually it's an "O2 reading lean" or some such code, which most novices, and DIY parts sales people mis-interpret as an "O2 is Bad" code
( it's usually something else leaning out the mixture, not the sensor going bad)

In your case, I'm not familiar with "slow response" codes
Can you confirm the correct sensor was installed?
Can you check to see that the harness connector is nice and snug?
Maybe even pull it apart and clean it, and re connect it

Generally, at least with Fords anyway, bank one is the side that has the #1 firing cylinder, which is usually the right side of the engine or passenger side if the engine faces front
Bank 2 would be the driver's, or left, side

Thanks Slickshift,

all 3 sensors are the same part number...

when i looked online, it showed a different number for before cat, and after...

But if the 2 before the cat were wrong, you would think they would both have a code...

You'd think...
But they are still functioning
It's just (at least the one) is simply "responding slower than expected"
That's not enough to really mess up the operation of the engine
Just enough that the computer took note and stored a code
