Just had new fuel pump installed. Now gas tank level sensor reads empty/low fuel at 1/2 full. Dealer says no adjustment is possible and I need to replace the fuel pump/sensing unit again. Is this correct?

Did the dealer install the new pump? If so and he's telling you it needs replaced again, he should be the one to stand the cost of the replacement.
If the gauge reads up and down relative to the amount of fuel in the tank, but just at the wrong part of the gauge, it could easily be the wrong part.
Hope this helps,
Bob

The fuel level sending unit is a seperate part that mounts to the fuel pump.
When replacing the fuel pump it is ussualy common practice to replace the fuel level sending unit at the same time. It's the same amount of work.
And this is a known fault of GM fuel level sending units.
Mine went bad on a '01 Malibu and the pump failed to.
It's an easy repair.
