1995 ford windstar just bought and just died

Help please, i was driving this vehicle home and the oil light came on so i put in oil and it was fine for a bit and then as i went up a large incline the oil light came on again and a few seconds later it died on me... it cranked a couple of times but would not stay on.

Was the oil level low when you added the oil and after it died the second time was the level low? Any other symptoms, i.e. overheating, noises from the engine, etc? How many miles on the van?

One possibility is that the pickup screen for the oil pump is clogged with gunk. The light going out after adding the oil would be coincidental in that case.

I was trying not to say that without a little more evidence, but I agree.
