Question Radiator fan will not start automatically

Repaired my radiator on 1987 Dodge 600 series, but radiator fan will not go on automatically. When directly connected to the battery, fan works just fine, but not otherwise. Changed thermoswitch twice, and put in new thermostat. Fan still won't kick over automatically. Any suggestions?

Is the engine over heating? Depending on the outside temp it may not need to come on.

Exclamation Radiator fan won't come on automat...

We live in a tropical climate and it is always very hot outside. The engine is always in danger of overheating, so, yea the fan is absolutely necessary to turn on automatically. The past overheating of the engine because of the fan problem is what damaged the radiator in the first place.

Could be the fan relay, so try that. Or instead of tearing your hair out, one permanent fix is to wire it to an ignition-hot circuit so that it comes on with the key and runs all the time. In a hot climate it would need to be running most of the time anyway. My wrecker auxillary fan is wired like that (the primary fan is engine driven; the aux fan is on the a/c condenser). Among other things I can hear it spin up when I turn the key on so I know when it craps out and needs to be replaced.

you probably have a burnt up fusible link would check all the links under the hood to see if any is bad by giving them a tug if any stretch they need replaced.
if you have a test light or voltmeter check for battery power at the relay this is with the key off if you have power then the fusible link is ok .
