help with 94 ford taurus

Red face help with 94 ford taurus

anybody have an answer for something as simple as the battery light not going off on the dash?

First item would be to have the charging system checked to make sure the alternator hasn't gone south.

skinny wire on top

make sure the skinny white or grey wire is plugged into the top of the alternator. This is the thinest wire that goes to it. make sure the connection is clean and tight. The little plastic tit the keeps it tight breaks off over time.

if that does not help, do as tow guy says

If you unplug the three wire connector on the alternator the light should go out. If it does, the alternator is the source of the problem. If it doesn't, you have a short to ground between the alternator and the dash. This wire feeds 12V TO the alternator. When there is a problem (like when the key is turned on with the engine not running) the alternator grounds the wire which turns the light on in the dash.
