Reset 97 Ford Explorer V6 Check Engine Light

How do I reset or turn off a Check Engine Light for my
97 Ford Explorer V6? I have already retrieved the codes, but
Now I need to reset the Check Engine light.

check engine light

try taking battery cable off for a few minutes

Exactly ,just did that yearteday to the 96 Explorer worked like a charm
remove pos battery cable for a few minutes

That may turn off the light, but it won't clear the existing codes like on an OBD-I vehicle. Need a scanner or reader to clear the codes.

if you have a advanced auto parts store near you, go there and ask them to erase your codes with an obd-II scan tool. they will do it free of charge.

hi,I have a 1984 ram 150 318,today went to start it and it spun over but would not hit,I noticed the gauges not working either,then tried the headlights..nothing?
