1995 Dodge Caravan rough shifts

You were such a help before, that now I've got another one for you! For Christmas, my boys bought me a 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan (the long one) and when they test drove it, it drove fine. (It has an automatic transmission) My son took the battery out to move another car, and when he put it back in, the car shifts into second with a really hard, rough shift. (So much so that hubby thought he hit something!) If you drive very slowly, it will shift ok, and then it's fine. My youngest said that he read on the internet somewhere that the computer had to 'relearn' to shift, but how long does it take for it to 'relearn'? (I only drive short distances.) Or, is my transmission going? (I sure hope not!) Help!!!!! Candy

Re-learn

It will take several days and 50 miles or so at least for the trans computer to re-learn. The dealer or a trans shop can do a quick learn for you.
