1992 Ford Escort Instument Panel Lamps
We can not seem to figure out how to replace the back light lamps in the instrument panel. The is no access from behind. We have pulled the front of the of the dash open but can not get the instrument cluster out due to the speedometer cable....

The speedometer cable must be disconnected to remove the cluster
It's difficult, but possible
There is at least one other electrical connector also
I was thinking the steering wheel had to come off too....maybe not
And just in case you weren't planning on it, it's a good idea to replace all of the bulbs back there while it's off

Solved
The steering wheel column had to be dropped to get the dash face off.
