Will It Work-Seal Block

I have a 3.0 OMC engine on an I/O drive boat. The head or block is leaking water. I would like to run sealer through it. It has been suggested in the marine forum to put unit in barrel of water mixed with sealer and run through system. Does any one have any knowledge about whether this would work or not or a better way to fix the leak, short of replacing or tearing down engine? I am thinking that to get the sealer to work, it has to be under pressure. Any help or suggestion any one can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Robert

Since marine cooling systems are not closed systems, I question that it would work. Even running it in a barrel(closed loop), might only be temporary. How bad does it leak, and where does it leak??

Thank you Bill for the feed back. The leak is bad. Probably more than bilge pump can pump. I think it is the head or block. It may be something else. I am in process of searching further, but weather has slowed this old man down. Thanks
