Hello, If a customer brings his vehicle in before a warranty expires and ask for warranty repairs and learns that the vehicle was not repaired during the warranty but after the warranty period; is he responible for the charges or is the factory still responsible?

I did a tune-up on this car, after I connected the battery and took it for a test drive I noticed the check engine light came on. I scanned the computer and it registered code P1351. I read the code book but i`m still not sure what might couse this. Any input is appreciated.Thank you.
