2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 6 cylinder in line 4.0 liter with a/c
Today I noticed that when at idle, the idle speed would increase, and the needle in the coolant gauge would drop down to about 100 degrees. Once the car was moving forward, it would go back to the same spot as always about 200 degrees.
Is it the radiator cap? thermostat, a sensor or the gauge the most likely culprit and how simple is it to repair. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I dunno fella............Thermostat stuck closed would overheat ALL the time........Stuck open would run cooler at speed with air over the radiator????........To have a 100 deg difference.............cooler when standing still and at idle would make me think problems electrical????.........Factory dashboard gauges are not known for their accuracy
