Cooling fan in Honda Odyssey won't shut off

I have a 2002 Odyssey. It's cooling fan won't shut off after I turn off the engine. I called the shop and they said it is normal for it to run for up to 20 minutes to cool off the engine. I let it run for at least that long, and it is still going. I had to unplug the battery, and 1 hours later after it sits in my cold garage, the fan still runs when battery is re-attached. Is the temperature sensor malfunctioning? What else could be wrong?

Thanks.

The sensor is one possibility. The other, if the sensor controls a fan relay, is that the relay is stuck in the on position. If you can back track from the fan motor, and the power wire goes to a relay, that's where to start checking. A simple volt meter would be a big help.

Usually it's a stuck relay. Try to find where the relay is located. Next time you run into this problem, tap the relay and the problem will probably go away. Then you'll know to replace the relay.
