Alarm 1996 Dodge Caravan

After the van is locked and sits for a few minutes the alarm will go off. Does anyone know how to cut the power to the alarm. I cannot find a fuse listed for the alarm? I do not need the alarm. I have already tried changing the computer beside the battery.

You will have to find the module under the drivers side dash usually. Is this a factory alarm, or aftermarket? Factory alarms are usually a little more tricky since it's usually hardwired in.

You will have to disconnect the plugs from this module and reconnect the plugs together.

Alarm

Yes it is the factory installed alarm. Will the module be located by the fuse box? I do not see anything like that. Sometimes when I unlock the door the alarm flashs on the dash that it is arming and motor will not run. I then have to close the door and use the key to lock the door and unlock it again. Thank you for any suggestions.

Alarm

Thank you. I will try that. The hood is hard to get open because you have to push down on it before you pull the release button so that could be it.

Hood Switch

Thanks, that is where the problem is. Do you know if I disconnect the wire from the latch if it will stop the alarm from coming on?

You could get a new switch or cut the wires and twist them together. The alarm will then think the latch it closed.

Yes it would and of course if someone try to pry the hood up, the alarm will not goes off, the rest of the doors and rear hatch still works though.
